Three hundred exhibiitors in Jaipur Jewellery show JJS 2011

 Jaipur Jewellery show JJS has become an important feature in Gems and Jewelry industry. Approximately three hundred exhibitors will be participating in this JJS 2011 commencing from December 23.

There are exhibitors from both India and overseas. Overseas participants are from Bangkok, Thailand, Hong Kong, Germany etc.

Ban on export of Tanzanite rough

 Tanzania government puts ban on the export of Tanzanite rough from Tanzania. The order came to develop cutting and polishing center in Tanzania.

Tanzanite is one of the most beautiful blue colored gemstones. It is a hot selling semi precious stone which resembles Blue sapphire, the precious stone. Tanzanite is found and mined in Tanzania only. Arusha is the main source of Tanzanite rough.

Jaipur, the color stone hub of India has been cutting and polishing Tanzanite since last decade. Jaipur is exporting cut and polished Tanzenite to the US and other countries. This is a major source of export revenue for Jaipur.

Gem dealers of Jaipur are stunt with the order of Tanzanian government. They will face crisis in procuring rough Tanzanite. Gemstone export from Jaipur will likely to be dipped following the incident.

Puja on the auspieces of Shikhar Chand Pungalia

 Renowned Jeweler Shikhar Chand Pungalia expired on May 01, 2010.  His family offered "Antaray Karma Nivaran Puja" today at Pungalia temple, station road, Jaipur. Pungalia temple was built by the ancestors opf late Sri Shikhar Chand Pungalia a century back.

It is to be worth noted that he was the proprietor of "Sobhagmul Gokulchand". His son Shirish Pugalia is in diamond business and living in Mumbai.

Nirmal baradia group won Jaipur Jewelers Association election

Jaipur: May 09, 2010

Nirmal Baradia group won the election of Jaipur Jewelers Association.
Members of Jaipur Jewelers Association voted to chose their executive committee members. This was a bi-annual (2010-12) election.

Two major groups were contesting in this election of Jewelers Association, Jaipur.

One group was headed by Nirmal Baradiya. that won the election. They have bagged eight seats out of twelve. Pramod Agrawal (Derewala) group bagged rest of four seats. Other members of Nirmal Baradiya group who won in the election are Arun Gokhru, Rajesh Dhamani, Sanjay Kala, Dilip Godika, Pramod Lodha, Namrata Ghiya and Vijay Jaju.

Anil Bumb, Rajendra Sabu and AshokAshok Singhi are the other winners from Pramod Derewala group. There was a tie between Kamal Kothari and Ashok Singhi. Kamal Kothari withdrew in favor of Ashok Singhi.

Both the group heads Nirmal Baradiya and Pramod Derewala have won the election.

Shikhar Chand Pungalia is no more

Renowned Jeweler and Gemstone dealer Shri Shikhar Chand Pungalia is no more. He has left for his heavenly abode tonight at 7.30 PM in Mumbai.

Earthly body of Shri Shikhar Chand Pungalia will be brought to Jaipur through the morning flight at 7.30 AM. Funeral procession will be started from his residence at Takht- e- Shahi road at 10.30 AM, May 2, 2010.

He is expired after  a short ailment. Shri Shikhar Chand Pungalia was taken to Mumbai last month and admitted into Ambani hospital, Andheri. He was transferred to Bombay hospital day before yesterday. He has left his wife Mrs. Nirmala Devi, his son Shirish (Nikku) and a daughter behind him.

Shri Shikhar Chand Pungalia was a renowned Jeweler and proprietor, Sobhagmull Gokulchand Poongalia. He was Patron of SSJV Shiksha Samiti and senior vice president of Jaipur Khartar Gachchha Sangh.

May the soul rest in peace!

Wel come to Jaipur Kite festival on Makar Sankranti

Happy Makar Sankranti !

Makar Sankranti is a festival of India that comes on January 14 every year. The Sun goes to uttarayan (popularly spoken as utran) from this day according to Indian astrology.

Makar is tenth Rashi (Zodiac) and Sankranti means transition. Hence, Makar Sankranti means transition of the Sun from the zodiac Makar. People goes to Ganga Sagar near Kolkata, West Bengal, to take a bath on Makar Sankranti.

Makar Sankranti is also a kite flying festival or kite festival in many parts of India. Jaipur in Rajasthan and Gujrat are famous for their kite festivals.

Kumbh Mela also starts on the day of Makar Sankranti and people go for bath in holy Ganga or in Triveni. Large number of people are expected to assemble in Haridwar this year for Kumbh Snan on January 14, 2010, the day of Makar Sankranti.

Inauguration ceremony of Jaipur Jewelry show (JJS 2009) held today at Rajmahal Palace hotel, Jaipur at 11 AM. MS. Varda Shine, Managing Director, Diamond Trading Corporation has inaugurated the show.

Mr. Vimal Chand Surana, convener,  JJS and other members welcome the guests and presented souvenirs to them.

Brigadier Bhawani Singh, Former Maharaja of Jaipur inaugurated picture gallery of Rajmata Maharani Gayatri Devi. There is a great collection of her photos in the gallery. It is worth noted that she was a beauty queen and fashion icon at her time. She has expired few months back.

October recorded growth in export of Color stones and Diamonds

Color stones (Gemstones) and Diamond export of India has recorded growth in the month of October instead of down fall in export of Jewelry in the same period. Rising of Gold price affected Jewelry export badly.
This is an achievement by Jaipur Gemstone dealers (Jaipur contributes most in Indian exports of Color stones and some in Diamonds) in this period of global slow down.

India exports mainly to America and America is facing severe economic crisis.

Hongkong show is not encouraging

 Hongkong Gems and Jewelry show is the biggest show in Asia. Jewelers and gem dealers were expecting good sales in Hongkong fair. There was a sign of revival in Gems and Jewelry trade in Mumbai show after long time. Jewelers and gem dealers were expecting some good days in hongkong show. However, it was not as good as expected.

Large number of gemstone dealers from Jaipur also participated in the show but most of them are discouraged. America is not yet recovered from recession. economy of America is slow. European countries are following the same track. The only hope for the Jewelers and gemstone dealers is India. India is doing well. There are good sales and consumption of color stones and diamonds in India.

It seems that domestic market will support the Jewelers but not overseas market.

Gemstones treatment center in Jaipur

A new treatment center for gemstones is established in Sitapura industrial area of Jaipur, Rajasthan by Gem and Jewelry Export Promotion Council of India.

Initially it will act as heat treatment plant. Jaipur Jewelers (Jewelers) need not to go to Bangkok in Thailand for the purpose of heat treatment now onwards.
